28 February 2015
Our Summer Fun Day turned out to be very successful.
A lot of Spectators visited the WRF- Airfield. Thank you very much! We hope you will visit us again next time.
Olaf displayed some of his extra-large Scale Models. Especial his new Super Conny seemed to be a great “Photo Model” for everyone. We thank Olaf for this once again.
The WRF Committee herewith would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the hardworking Helpers and the participated Pilots, who did their best to entertain our guests and showed their Models in the Air.
(Maybe a static display of a few Jet Models could have added to a well-organized fly-in.)

Pokweni Fly-In from 22. - 25.05.2015
After a little “Boy-Scout-Trip” to Pokweni, done from Richard and Thomas in October 2014, both managed it to convince a few Pilots to attend a Fly-In there.
So, thanks to Alex, Andreas, Christian, Dieter, Doepie, Frank, Jasper, Matthiam, Richard, Werner, and Thomas... (Not to forget: Frank and Christian had to drive 7hours all the way up from the coast! While the WRF Pilots “only” had to drive 2.5 hours from Windhoek.)...
It was a full success!
The Pan (900m x 300m) was flat like a mirror, cudgel hard and almost without any dust on it.
Everything was perfect for us, as well the weather: Not so cold as expected at that time of the year and not to hot it can be at the outskirts of the Kalahari. And, with only light wind now and then.
We all had a great time together with lots of fun and laughter.
No doubt; it is the best place to fly and to camp. And: It seems to be, that all these Guys will love to come back again to Pokweni for the Namibia Annual Fly- In, end of August.
All the Pilots want to say: Many thanks to Jos van der Merwe, that we could make use of this marvellous facility at Pokweni.

Namibia Annual Fly-In 2015
From the 26 to the 30 August.
As every year around this time of the year and already in a very long tradition, the Windhoek Radio Flyer's organized a Fly-In for all Model Fliers in Namibia. This time at Pokweni.
In total 25 Pilots, often joined from there Family's and some guests arrived at this fantastic place in the Kalahari.
Unfortunately the weather was crisscrossing the Model flying activities a whit: Sometimes to much Wind to fly. Nevertheless and because of the huge “runway” flying was possible. Particular in the mornings and evenings. And in the night, when a “Pulsejet” engine created a incredible sound while flying in the darkness.
We can say, everybody enjoined this meeting with there friends and colleagues in the Desert. Had some Fun and laughter, especial whiles an Egg drop competition. We have to do without eggs: A leak of fresh Eggs forced us to use Golf balls instead. What caused an interesting question:
Who takes Golf balls with him into the Desert, to a Model flying event?
A special thanks goes again to Jos v.d. Merwe the owner of Pokweni. For all his help to make this Fly-In possible.
Most probably we will do the next Namibia Annual Fly-In at Pokweni again. The most best place to fly Model planes in Namibia.
